Default Buying a VL - What to look for?

What negatives should I look for? Ie, rust locations, general problems etc..

I'm hoping to get a VL Calais..

    Thanks

check all the usual things, rust generally isnt much of a problem but I dont know how you are supposed to check for rust on the floor as removing or lifting the carpets isnt easy
especially check for rust around the windscreen or poorly done rust repairs there , use a magnet
look for signs of water leaks under the dashboard

if its a 6, the engine should be very smooth

4 rust peritions look under the boot ruber seal if u can as that whole lip is commen 4 rusting away and the bottom of the parcel (aove the seat belt houseing) is a main rust area,
check the reaseat belts retract fine because if the window has a bad seal (rusted though at the bottom of the window) the water gets in runs down the pacel shelf (causes rust on this 2) and runs off into the coil of the seat belt houseing causeing it 2 seze and stop retracting, xpenvie 2 fix coz its ilegal 4 wrekers 2 sell them 2 u, BUT a carton off beers will fix that problem and they cant give u a recepit
