The Engineer here we have at work has ticked off a few convertibles & one requirement he suggests is to weld up the doors & run additional steel tubes under the floor. I can't see why you couldnt get it passed...Go for it looks trick..

this is a ute. i couldnt think how to make it have a roof. i obviously dont want window frames so there wil be just windows. but they wouldnt fit together then a roof. maybe it would just have to be a show car...

u should head to the holden museum in echuca they have a holden convertible there that some apprentice engineers at holden made years ago, its pretty neat, but u couldnt see it working or anything, just for display...
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
    PM with any info.

Cool idea! Just my impression is that you might want to change the angle of the windscreen and or shorten its height. Just thinking outloud.

I imagine the ute would have better performance, without back seats, rear parcel shelf, anything like that but wouldn't you want some weight over the back wheels if using it for drag racing?

the ute would have been based on a wagon id imagine, so without the roof yeah she'd be light in the arse. utes are painfully skiddable.

damn it, I knew that would look so good... Ive been toying with this idea for a while... I couldnt bring myself to cut up a VLC so I have a VKC & it just might have to become a VKCC V6 .... hmmm damn project ideas...

On welding the doors I was looking to weld back doors, possibly removing them altogether? & then lengthing fronts? I know from limo work about putting rods in door frames, floor etc... bit of work I have cut out for me... :b:

yeah thats a great idea, take out the rear doors and lighten the front but how can you lighten the front?
your gonna want to make sure you got a really good car to start out with, little or no rust so it doesnt end up costing way too much

Buy a shitter for under $500 bucks & play with that , before you start chopping up a decent vehicle.
