Exhaust....2DAY/2NITE ONLY!!!

Im kinda ummin and arrring about my exhaust...taking it in 2moro morning...just recently took it in to another exhaust shop to get the cat replaced...took it to another joint 2day and my muffler(i believe) is stuffed aswell(the oval cylinder thing) He said he was gonna "do me a favour" and drop it back to a 2 1/4 (from 2 1/2) exhaust with straight through muffler, and keep the hotdog and tip, and bend it up a little more so its not vibrating on my axel...said it will give more power and better fuel econemy, he also said something bout keeping the cops off my tail by doin this, but i don't want the sound to completely change into something that sounds like a pussy. (i like the sound its putting out, rummbling on idle)

What are the key things in exhaust that make the sound/note (would a quarter of an inch change the sound alot?) and wat would everybody else do??? Cheers

yeah it will change alot but will probabley give more power. the boys over on calaisturbo always say it will. you could always take out the hotdog

what does taking out the hotdog do? What is it's purpose.

hotdogs or resinators replace the muffler on the rear it cause the car 2 sound deeper but its less efective (loss of power), where a quiter car is more effective (meh) because the exhaust is set up right

well i don't want it to be quiet. Hence the reason i asked if 1/4 of an inch would make a big sound difference.

well i got it done, only got the muffler replaced....It sounds the same at idle which i wanted, but when the foot goes down it makes that loud hollow noise, which aint too bad. It goes from 2 1/2 down to a 2 1/4 straight through muffler back to 2 1/2 exhaust, hotdog and tip.

yeah it shouldn't make much of a sound difference with the 1/4 inch difference. so did you get your rear muffler replaced with a hotdog? the rear muffler is the resonator if i'm not mistaken, and is ok to remove (will sound good), but the middle muffler if removed will create a tinny note.
