    Default Engine swap?

Wanting to know if its possible to take a VL holden RB30 engine and put it in an 86 Skyline??
Wondering if the wiring harness and the computer system are the same??
As in, does everything plug in the same or do modifications have to be made to accommodate the holden engine?

    Any information would be appreciated!

    Thanks.

    hmmmm
think there is no point in doing that coz there the same engine, and if u mean like the whole set up eg turbo and plumbing there would b no point because the engine bay is differant dimentions so it wouldnt fit,

    Default thanks....one more thing...

thanks for the reply, would you be able to give me more information?

i have a friend who has a standard VL, he wants to sell it cheap and i have a skyline with a blown engine so i was wondering if i buy the VL and take the engine out of that, and put it into the skyline??
there are no turbo's or anything on it, both are standard.
reason i'm interested is because the VL is worth $200 and the nissan RB30's are worth $330 so im looking to get the VL as an alternative?

i cant c y not it wouldnt work,

but the vl engine had the head (think) shortnd because the engine wouldnt fit under the bonnet, this shouldnt affect it,

why not just keep the vl complete, its proberly quicker then the skyline because its liter by 200kgs

What's wrong with the vl that would make u want to swap the engine over? All the extra work to put engine into a box(shape) skyline...im a fan of skylines myself but id definitly ride in the vl over the r31 anyday. Round 3 years difference in age and valued the same? All up to you though.

The engines are the same including the head...they just have a different set up under the bonnet...skyline engine bays look so empty compared to the vl, just you might want to check you mates vl head...if not looked after properly it could be cracked which means dollars to fix...just making that asumption because it so cheap even if he is your mate.

thanks for the info, unfortunately the rest of the VL is a write-off... so the engines worth it for my skyline.
plus the VL engine revvs to 7500 whereas the skyline only revvs to 6000...

    thanks again

The AFM has a different plug and its a different type of AFM as well so I'm thinking all the wiring may be different. The engines are identical except for on the VL the intake setup is mounted lower to clear the shorter bonnet.
