did you put your engine to TDC? the belt has a white mark on it. put the belt on with the mark in the exact same spot as it came off. you really should replace the belt now for a measly few quid instead of having to replace it later on and have to pull it all apart again.

your water pump is running all the time anyway. it's just the thermostat prevents the water going through the radiator until it warms up. what happens if the electric pump dies or has a short. all of a sudden your temp will hit boil. safer to keep original type of pump.

Did you take notice of where the spring sits? Mine was incorrectly assembled, and it was too loose, just replaced cambelt but Im not sure ive got the spring in the right place now, might be too tight. Where does the leg of the spring rest- i put it against a stud sticking out of the block that seems to be there for no other reason?

it looks wrong but it is right against the silly little stud at the bottom of the tensioner
