Its probably just the o2 sensor or the coolant temp sensor. (the yellow plug on the top radiator hose at the engine) If the coolant temp sensor is dirty or corroded it will tell the ecu that the engine is always cold and to run a rich mixture, take it off and give it a good scraping. How do you know that its running rich may I ask?
If its just excessive fuel consumption its prolly the o2 sensor, but if there are clouds of black smoke when you boot it its running rich and is prolly the coolant temp sensor

can someone tell me where i'd find the 02 sensor and are you sure the coolant temp sensor is the "yellow" plug , i thought it was the small slide on clip next to the yellow plug.

according to the gregory's manual its the yellow plug not the sliding black one for the coolant temp sensor. O2 sensor is on the exhaust manifold

take the plugs off the o2 sensors, get a multimeter and probe the black wire and the purple wire on each 02 sensor. it should be fluctuating between 0.0 and about 0.7 volts when warmed up revving at about 2000rpm, so its gonna be some hot work unless you can find the wire that goes into the ecu. Id go and look at mine but its in the workshop at the moment. best to do it under the car jacked up with somebody keeping the revs up about 2000 rpm. the voltage should fluctuate a couple of times per second from 0.0 to 0.70. if one or both are sitting at around 0.7 they are either buggered or the earth is no good to them. you will probably find one is buggered and one bank of the engine is running in open loop mode and the other in closed.
