hey guys n gals....
Would a r31 turbo skyline engine fit a vl commodore?
Obviously there will be some minor changes....just wondering if anyone knows if it will fit before i buy it...
thanks
vlmadness.. >P
well considering its the same engine it should, just might have 2 modif the turbo plumbing because the bays are differnt dimentions, and think the top of the engine will hit the inside of the bonnet becuase the bonnet on a commie is low then the skyline, holden shortned something (not sure wat it was) to make it fit so u could change it
engine mount brakets could b differnat, but not sure, though Bextor might have a idea on this

ahhh great guys, thanks
Ill have to do some more snooping around and see what i can find out...
the RB30 is in the r30 skylines i think .... not the r31
The Australian R31's had RB30's, Imorts had Turbo and Non turbo RB20's Redtops. R30's had L24's. Most cost effective is turobing the standard RB30, cause there the same apart from compression, or a RB20DET Silvertop from a R32. There pretty cheap for front cuts now.
ok guys, just found a genuine vl turbo motor + manual turbo gearbox (clutch n flywheel included) for $2500.....Whats everyone think of that? Im not sure whether its actually a good price for what it is or alittle steep?
sounds alright if its origional but like i said in your other thread you would want better breakd and the gearbox or go easy on her, treat the box to some treatment maybe. not sure tho
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!
if u can get a VL turbo motor and manual gearbox for between 1500 and 2500 ur about on the mark. It costs about 2000 - 3000 to do the conversion from a non turbo engine
