Hey guys, I've got an 87 VL Calais with LE badges on the glove box and the front centre grille piece. I havnt been able to find out if the badges are factory and there significance. Does anyone know?
Any imfo would be appreciated.
I found some info, quite a rare car you have there if its genuine, it was built by HDT.
The LE also becomes a good investment due to the fact that only about 4500 HDTs of all models were ever made. That, combined with the fact that many of these rare cars have also been written off or have simply disappeared over the years, just makes such cars even more desirable over time. You just don't seem to see them on the road very often any more like you used to only a few years ago. So the LE is not only the most desirable VL turbo ever made, it is also not a bad investment as well. The search was made even more difficult as I just had to have an Evening Blue LE with low kms, be fully optioned, and have a 5-speed manual!
what made it different from normal calais. engine, interior, exterior?

The car is not a HDT model. Wish it was. Is a V8 Calais with an auto, has a body kit on it which im guessing is part of the LE package but who knows.
Not all 'LE's' were turbo. if any
ay, any one know where i cld find those calais headlights in the attachment...??
eBay would be a good place to check if you havn't, working ones are big $$$ though
Yeah have got imfo on the HDT LE vehicles. Im starting to wonnder if my car is a dealer LE, maybe a Holden dealer just slapped a kit on it and badged it. As far as I know all the HDT cars had build numbers and plates. By the way im a kiwi and this car was sold new in N.Z.
Should have a HDT build plate on the firewall. If it hasn't, all u have is a body kit.
the lights start at around $1200, dont know about a pair on broken ones, might be a better option and just fix them...
