just a simple question , do i have to take the air box pipe off the throttle body to change my sparkpugs , or is there an easier way?
hi there markandsam, I guess you have a turbo 6, you can get a short wobble spark plug socket to fit but you got to have 2 or 3 one inch 3/8 extensions with a wobble end on them too and it just gets in there but be carefull putting in the new plugs not to cross thread them good luck![]()
nah , not a turbo , just looks like a pain in the arse to change over
do they cross thread easy do they?
you can buy a t-bar with a uni joint on the bottom. i did mine with that. reasonably easy. do it cold though as they can be a bit tight while hot.
The plugs can be a real bastard to get to.
I agree that the plugs can be a hell of a job, it helps to push a length of plastic tube over the insulator so you can start the thread by hand and reduce the chance of cross threading it, also be careful to keep the spanner upright and not put any pressure on the white insulator part which can easlly break
a wobble or universal is most helpful
also clean the muck away from where the gasket contacts the head
yes the centre part of the airpipe needs to come off
I just changed my plenum, now the plugs are easy to get to.
what do you mean by "cross threading it"?Originally Posted by harry3

cross threading is like stripping the plug.... making a new thread which isnt meant to be... should be okay just make sure u dont snap them when putting them in... i did it to my vl and didnt have time to put another one in to pick my sister up from work... 5 cylinders sucks...Originally Posted by Stewart1000
