    Default engine swap prices

i was sure what i wanted to do with my car with an engine. but after thinking im not sure any more. im just trying to get an idea of what i might have to spend to get either and ls1 and for the hell of it an ls2 or maybe a vz v6. i may have set my sights a little high here not sure. id like to super charge with either option. so yeh if any one has any idea of what it might cost for any of this i be happy if you told me.

    cheers

Holden were selling crate LS1's for around $6600 thats just an engine and ecu, your looking at big bucks for this type of transplant possibly $15,000-$20,000 drive away. A late model 5 litre conversion would be allot cheaper and easier (less custom parts), you would just need a 5 litre vl that is farked and strip everything from it and then chase up some running gear looking at around $10,000 drive away.
Don't know much about these new v6's wait a few models first for them to iron out the bugs and fragilities.

add $1500 to whatever you can get an engine for. no need for a VL v8, moreso the other way around (if i did it with mine id need more i6 parts than v8 parts for the injected engine transplant).

ive looked around at the likes of a vs 5ltr with damaged body and good engine, they are out there at 3-4k.

$5000 to be safe 'drive away'.

youd do the conversion yourself without a worry in the world. not much to change at all.

you wouldnt want to buy an engine o nits own, too expensive and then you need all the extras, get a front cut of the car you want the engine out of, you could always go rb26dett, lots of power and it bolts right in i hear.

but yeah an LS2 in a vl... wow that would fly, you would be doing 11 seconds probably without any mods

good idea thinking about the ls1 or ls2 but if u think about it the vl's already have enough trouble keeping the ass on the ground with a 5 litre hows it gonna handle with like wat over or just under 300 kw's of power u would have to be mad ur talking a 6 speed trans ive seen pictures of a blue showcar with the gen 3 motor in it loooked awsome but i dunno if it would be worth it i would go with the finding a vl v8 and stroking it or something ive seen some pretty mean looking vl's with the whole stroked 5 litres they put out some definite power but depends on how high ur aiming i wouldnt mind one of those alloytech 6's in one though plenty of guts and light as would be worth looking into a conversion for one of them but definetly talking well over $20000 i thought the trans were a good 5-10 grand but you never know u might find a wreckers trying to move a write off cheap like ss see how ya go

    dan

haha and if u live in brissie and find all the ls1 gear to put in a vl hey ill help with that

easiest way is to buy a wreck and transplant everything over. as said above a wreckod efi 5L (from pickles) about 3-4K, and its apparently pretty easy to do the swap ya self. LS1 would be pretty pricey as its a harder conversion and might have to get someone else to do it (real tight squeeze) an ecotech (around VS age) would be pretty cheap, looking at roughly 2K (20 000 dan_man31? dont think so) thats if ya do everything ya self
