i was wondering if someone could give me some prices for a vl turbo engine and box as i wonna upgrade my n/a to a turbo and was thinkin it would be easyer to just put a whole turbo engine in. what do you all think.
definately easier to drop the whole engine in, you will need a turbo engine, turbo ecu and upgraded brakes to cope with the extra speed. your looking at around $2500-$5000 depends what you can get for what price and what you can do yourself, also if you don't get a turbo gearbox you will have to be mechanically sympathetic to the gearbox and diff coz they wont last long otherwise. some n/a vl's came out standard with a trans cooler (tow pack).
ive already done the diff and so ive got disc brakes around and i will need a box as mine cruncks when i drop it back to second at around 60 unless i double cluch it back then its alright. my dads the service manager at holden so putin it in will be no trouble i just need to find one for the right price.
also do u need mod plates when changin the engine over.
hmmm not sure about brizzy but in vic all you have to do is tell vicroads and get an engineers certificate. have a look on ebay I've seen a couple of turbos cheapish. (under $5000) and someone from this forum is selling a calais turbo for around $4000 it was in the for sale section.
