Sorry fellows I know this has been around a few times but but forgot to write down I my book of knowledge. Could someone please tell me the impedance and adjustment proceedure of the AFM![]()
there is a little cylinder on the side off the Afm
pop the lid of the cylinder thing and there should be a screw in there,
get a philps head scredriver and turn the screw to adjust the sensor,
think right for more richer and left for leaner (if not other way round)
this pic is where the screw is located in

O and there is a way to test the Ohms its producing, get a circet tester and set it to ohms touch the 2 prons to the to little legs on inside of the AFM, the reading should be 382ohms (factory) if its not change it till you get that reading by simpaly turning the screw as discribed b4
and the engine has to be running while doing this
(not postive this is the way, some 1 plz confirm it 4 me)

the AFM cant work properly if there are any leaks between it and the engine in the air intake pipe, such as a split in a rubber section or a loose clamp
Thanks fellows problem 98% fixed AFM was at 512 ohms I reset it to factory setting making car run less rich ,it still has a little flat spot when you first start to drive.
you wanna make it run a little rich if you have those odd moments when you liek to get off fast
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!
When you say pins 1 and 6 do you mean the pins where the plug connects or somewhere inside the intake?Originally Posted by Countess
I measured mine on the plug pins there and got zero ohms between 1 and 6??
Leave it pluged in and slide the rubber cover back, then you can get to the pins..okOriginally Posted by hobnog

RIP Peter (perfect) Brock....
Pulled back the plug and ran car to test.
Zero ohms between terminal 1 and 6.
Does this mean my AFM is rooted??
Being at zero ohms doesnt mean its stuffed just adjust it untill it gets to 381 ohms, the lower the ohms the richer it will run so the higher the ohms the leaner it will run. When i checked mine it was on 760 ohms.
so how many ohms do u boys and girls have???
how the hell do you get that little blue nobbie off the screw part. its seems well stuck in there
Half a carton and still going!!! Now thats Economy
effort i used a real small flat head and shoved it in and pried it out

sorry mine was gone when I got the car, but I'd say glued as joe average wasn't ment to turn the screw!!Originally Posted by VLACS

k guys.. im bringing this post back from the dead..
im trying to adjust the afm, n ur meant to do it while the car is running, when i unplug, the car dies.. how do i keep it plugged in and have the 2 points from the multimeter in there?
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...
pull the cover thing of the plug to expose wires the place the prons 1-6 while car on u should get a reading of 3.66 ohms is aftermarket afm spec.
k i got to it and its reading -1194
if i turn the screw it goes worse (-1200+)
but if i turn it the other way it wont go past -1102
reckon my afm is stuffed?
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...
anyone? i got a date tonight and i dont wanna borrow my moms car.. lol
