resently brought a vl with stock rb30 that has been re build an has done 38000gearbox and motor wont to sell both and by v8 but wouldnt have a clue wot its worth can you give me an idear fallers chears jono
realisticly VLs arent worth much, all being about 20 years old now, do you want to sell the car or just the motor and gearbox?
if you want to isstall a V8 in it, be aware that the standard VL with a V8 was generally disapointing

On seconds thoughts... i have a new motor and gearbox to go in.. not sure what im doing with the vl motor and box yet (dont know what they are worth either) but hey i got my stroker 355 and turbo 350 box for only 600 $
the only problem with the motor and box im taking out they need new sump seals (they leak) but thats low cost i can do before i sell them![]()

and i wont put in the vl v8 coz they lack the balls i wont so i would put a vn 5litter only coz i cant afford a turbo kit for the girlbut just got a job as mechanic at a nissan dealer so they mite get it cheap

Because stock figures are absolutely terrible for the vl v8, I'm sure with mods, some different diff gears most importantly, piss those 308's off and get something a bit lower, 3.7's I'm sure would be a remarkably improvement.Originally Posted by DenchY

Well if anything its probably got less then 'these stock figures' unless you've modded it enough to keep it around about what it came from factory with.

Factory 1/4 mile times also show that the vlt was the fastest. Yes its all about torque, but we have to admit the v8 int he vl was far from up to scratch.
My comment about your motor probably having less then stock now, easy, if you haven't modified it in any way at all, you add 18 years onto its life, run up the km's. Tolerances change, and its definately not pumping out the same figure as it used too be.
yeah they wouldnt be makgin the same power as they used to but yeah its the torque mainly but the v8 only had an extra 40 or 5nm when the vlt had 40kw over it and thats a much higher % of kw more then more torque... that made sence when i was thinking of it... lol

Yeah I was under the impression that unleaded was the reason for its lack of power too, I'd read it somewhere. I just think its funny that the figures are around the vlt was faster then the group a. stock vs stock quarter.
it was also due to the fact that they had to incorperate anti pollution laws due to the fact it ran on unleaded i think

all stock motors are shit exp(gen111/xr superchargers) especially the vl turbo iwouldnt even think off putting in a stock kit that would be ........ theres not a word for itthat will do actions speak louder
sozz bit off topic, but i was conffessd bout something i read.
i read that the vls v8 was a 304 not a 308, dont say taht 304 were injected coz this thing i read clearly stated it was a 304 carby that the vls had.
can any1 help me out with this?
