9ltrs?????wtf they should have about 4 or 5!!!!the noise is most likely lifters.....vibrations could possibly be the tie rod end or the steering rack (if you in vic i know someone that has the whole setup in good condition)the petrol pump should make a light whirring noise...no clunking or stuff...hope that helps a bit!!!
also there is a thread in regards to the lifters...
Strange ticking noise ???
Click the scales.....you know you want to!!!!
my fuel pump is noisy as hell! jus get an exhaust system n u wont even notice the pump...![]()
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...
^^^ True all that. Lifter noise means that 1 or more of them is worn or sticking. 5 litres of oil without changing theoil filter (didn't think 9 litres would fit). Fuel pump makes a constant buzzing noise and is noticible when the car is stopped. Get some new tyres for it and it will stop the Vibration and get them balanced (did for mine when I picked it up from caryard).
VLs are a good dependable car if they are well maintained you will rarely have a problem with it. I want to buy a spare CAS and carry it in my glovebox for emergencies LOL
If the fuel pump is TOO loud though, get underneath and give it a thump, if it quiet downs a bit, it means the points are starting to stick and its on the way out. Fuel pumps are a common replacement with vl's. The ones you buy these days last alot longer though. If dont replace it and completely dies on you, it could take out the low pressure internal pump with it.
how much dose a new pump cost (high pressure) and a filter, and is it reckomended to change the low pressure pump at the same time?

Fuel filter costs me about about $14 depending on where i make the purchase/brand. Um, reccomended? Probably by someone running a business after your hard earned cash lol. But if it aint broke, why fix it? Only thing is the two work in accordance with each other and if one dies it will usually kill the other. Should be right to just replace external if catch it in time though. But if you wanna be safe replace them both, cause if you replace 1 and not the other, and then the other dies it might kill your new one with it and need to replace it again.
ok cheers for thatOriginally Posted by RankONE
