    Default turbo or manual???

hey all, i was talking with my mates and they suggested about getting my auto trans and ditching it for a manual transmission. How much would this cost and what would i have to change on my car?? on the alternative side, they suggested installing a turbo. what do u guys reckon, and what would be cheaper and better??
    cheers!!

depends how much power you want. and how much you're willing to spend. puting a manual in will be HEAPS cheaper and easier. you will get a power gain at the rear wheels. turbo is expensive and lots of parts and work are needed but you'll get HEAPS more power from the engine. And looking at your age i wouldn't go near a turbo. depending where you're from it could be illegal. put the manual in for now if you have to have more power and some engine mods and do the turbo when you're a little older and wiser.

there's a post in the "everything to know about vl's" with the conversion in it....manual makesdriving more fun than auto.....also it depends which block you have to convert it to turbo...if it series one then you have to drill and tap holes for the turbo feed/drain.....i personally went manual.....the only complaint i have against it is when you are in traffic.....the rest of the time it better than auto cause you have a bit more control of the car!!
Click the scales.....you know you want to!!!!

i agree with ^^^^^^^. if you do go for the manual don't worry about the crap everyone says about changing the ECU and loom. you don't need too. a VL manual will run on a auto ECU but an auto won't run on a manual ECU. Just leave the transmission plug unhooked from the ecu. Then close the neutral switch circuit so the car will start in gear and neutral. then wire up reverse switch to lights.

Turbo would kill your auto and you'd have to change it anyway.
    Manual it is.

Thats true, you would need to get a decent trans cooler if you went for the turbo option.

bloody oath. then you'd need a stage 2 or 3 shift kit to hold it together and whatever else to stregthen it. thats is of course if you want a half decent psi off the turbo.

If you're gonna keep it N/A, Manual by a easy margin, if going Turbo get a Manual anyway.
