hi all my mate has a vl berlina s/w with t4 turbo and he has got a ceramic head i was wondering what they do exacly apparenly he needs a spacer so he can run more boost not that he needs it this thing is an 11 sec car apparently
"ceramic head" Just what my water fuelled motor needs!!! Tell me more?
well i was hoping someone could tell me he bought this car with it on i think its alot stronger can heat up more?
you can run more boost in it and the engine will run without hurting
what would they cost to buy it?
to be honest i would not have a clue
does anyone no wat it would roughly cost
All I can find is coated ceramic bearings, rings, pistons and other stuff through google
Ceramic head??
Sure he didnt mean a ceramic wheel in his turbo?
a ceramic head on a VL turbo. does he have a unicorn horn shifter? seriously, i very much doubt he has a ceramic head, even if rb26 is right and he does have a ceramic turbine wheel (re: stock nissan turbo) they arent much good for over 1 bar as the friction weld between the wheel and the steel shaft fractures and sends pretty little pieces of wheel down the exhaust.
if there is such a thing as a ceramic head i'll eat my skid stained underpants. take a pic for me cos i gotta see this.
And all you see is a cloud of dust.lolOriginally Posted by EcotecManiac
yeah i thought it sounded weird myself what i think he actually means is that it is ceramic coated ive looked everywhere just about and all i could find was coated pistons and head and stuff not full ceramic but does anyone know what kind of spacer he needs and its not a stock turbo if he says it can run 11's i think he said its a t4
How much boost is he running?
A ceramic head would shatter in the first 5 mins or so as soon as the cracks start developing it would say "enough". He prolly means ceramic coated pistons and a copper headgasket. which would lower the compression and make it slightly more boost friendly.
he runs 5-10 psi i thinkOriginally Posted by rb26dett
And his car runs 11's????
I think he would be running alot more boost to get anywhere near 11's, but that is just my opinion.
Is his motor an original turbo or is it Normally Aspirated??
Does he run an aftermarket ecu??
Try to find out as much as possible.
5-10 pound is stock boost and they run what ... high 14's ?? u would have to spend like $30000 to make a car do 11's with only 10 pound boost
the car has about $25000 worth and he says it has done high 11s and ill have to see if it is origanal turbo i know the turbo he has in there is a t4 and he just needs a copper gasket or some spacer to run more boost
in all honesty, if he has spent that much on the engine, his builder should be able to give him this information. but if he is interested, check out this site http://www.not2fast.com/turbo/compre...pression.shtml
If he spent that much on the motor, he should not need a shim to lower compression.
the stock vlt i had was running 5 psi and ran mid 14's
i've seen stock ones running 10psi do high 11s low 12s
he actually bought with mods got all receipts can run 15psi

Did you soon wake up from that dream?
He sould be able to run alot more than 15psi, especially if it has a forged bottom end.Originally Posted by stockvp
