    Default rich or lean

the usual exhaust pipe colour for a car on unleaded is black, so is there any easy way to tell whetert your VL is running rich or lean?

put ur hand at the exhaust tip and get some1 to rev it up. if u get specs of black stuff (sometimes its just clear) its running rich.

bring it back a bit on the mix till it only a "few" bit coming out

i know my vl t, was running heaps rich but it went hard as hell, so i left it alone.

dont run it to lean or ull wear the engine (pistons) out pretty fast

dunno if this is your definition of easy but... warm up your motor. rpm should be 700 (+-50), an timing 15 deg btdc at idle. Start the engine, run at about 2000rpm no load for about 2 mins.
turn the comp diagnosis screw all the way anticlockwise.
if both the red an green LEDs are flashing simultaneously more then 5 times every ten secs, stop the engine.
disconnect the AAC valve an the connection to the throttle switch. start the engine back up an run 2000rpm no load 2 mins again.

if the lights are both flashing at the same time the mixtures right. if they dont, you got to adjust the screw on the AFM until they do. but, if they not flashing together to begin with, you meant to do a whole bunch of stuffin round before you go play with the AFM...

Check your plugs- Thats the way I'd go about checking to see if it had been running rich or lean. And go from there, if they look fairly normal I wouldn't touch a thing.
