Can someone please tell me if there is a difference between a 3l auto calais diff, and a 3lman berlina diff. (other than obvious casing differences and discs).
I have just got rid of the slushbox in my calais (thank god) and have put the 5 speed in, and running the original diff. Have been told by someone that wasnt really sure that my auto diff is prob taller.
I want to know if its worth swapping the diff heads over.
Cheers
yah i was tolld this by a mate to0, when i went auto to manual, is this true???

the ratio is the same between auto and manual.
what he said. Stock they are 3.45s. Good upgrade is to 3.9s, or even the 4.11s out of skylines (as in the Square 31s)

i'm not 100% sure, but i had a few mates go hunting for 31s at U pull it, so i assume they bolt straight up (you'd think that anyway having the same driveline)Originally Posted by VL Berlina 5speed
Also something i think worth mentioning, the V8 would have a different ratio, lower like 3.08 or even lower again.

5.0L is a 3.08 ratio... same diff as the VN, 4 pinion 28 spline... Although the diff is not actually as wide..Originally Posted by STEALTHY

I am keen to get the 3.7 gears as this would help acceleration without losing too much top end.
