Washed me car today as well as checked under the hood, and to my suprise all my coolant is gone out of my reserviour. The head was replaced last september...Im also getting a weird green goo driping from the bottom of my power steering rack, and the rack aint leeking (it was replaced just over a year ago) cuz its sitting over max. There was a reasonable amount of coolant gone from the radiator, level was down about 2 inches. And wat do i do about it if its the coolant??? Top it up, and bleed it? Will the head be damaged already (it hasn't overheated yet).
try n find where its dripping from.. check the cap on the engine, if its creamy then your in trouble, also smell it to see if it smells burnt... have the car running when your searching for where its dripping from. If ya cant find anything then i'd say take it straight to mechanics before the problem gets worse.. is your head under warranty? coz when i got mine done i got 12months warranty.
Also check the radiator cap.. if it doesnt sit 100% then can leak from there.. My guess would be just a small hole in one of the hoses, once the pressure builds, then it starts to spray.. but like i said check it all out, if ya cant find ANYTHING, then go to the pros...
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...
Its dripping from the bottom of the steering rack,,,not excessively cuz its like oil but green...There is alot of excess coming out of the top of the reseviour but not enough to drain the entire thing...when i check it the other day the radiator level was down 2inches...2nite its full, after draining it all from the res. its under a 12 warrenty. But once its empty doesen't that meean it has air in it??? needing it to be bled?
if its under warranty, just fill the radiator up, and take it straight to the shop, not worth getn ya hands dirty if its under warranty..
Or u could try bleeding it, are your power steering levels staying the same or dropping too..
might just need a new rack..

it could be your water pump. i found with mine when it was leaking it would follow the contour of the sump gasket and go to the back of the engine. it really threw me off until someone tipped me off. if it is running around the gasket it could be dripping onto your steering rack and then onto the ground.
Well i've just about had enough...this f**kin commodore is costing nothin but money...paid 3500 for it spent at least another 3000+ on it (it mighten seem that much for others as they've spent more); fuel economy is still up shit creek it's still one of the slowest vl's in town, and all that's different from the day i got it is a 12" sub; whoopi.
Took it into the mechanics had to leave it there overnight, it had four leaks in different hoses. The bottom radiator hose into the engine was rusted out, the hose looks stuffed aswell but i doubt they changed that. The two at the firewall were leaking and the one going into the head was leaking...The mechanic said he tryed to bleed it out as best he could and hoped it was fine but said it's a bit hard without having bleeder bolts (both snapped)...so driving the car could be putting the head back at risk (**** it). The aircon drain pipe is leaking in the car; water is leaking through the the roof, and the main a/c gas pipe is leaking aswell. My back tyre is blown, rust everywhere, suspension stuffed, 6*9 stuffed, 4" stuffed, tyres are close to replacing (because of camber) gearbox will probably be on it's way now. Wat do i do? Go drive it in a ditch (it's been there b4) or put up with it and hope for the best.
Problems occured in the last 2 1/2 years fixed

How much more mechanical sh*t can go wrong?
bit of badluck there...
dont worry.. i went thru 3 engines in 1month... no jokes..!
then i still had to pay another$900 to get the head fixed.. then there was all other stuff...
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...
a lot of those things are general wear and tear. your mechanic is a bit dodgy if he can't bleed the head without using the bolts. your oxygen sensor might be stuffed which would account for poor fuel economy and slowness. and it's all up to you whether to keep the car, get a small loan and fix it all at once or buy another vl and use yours for spares.
Jules86 has replaced the 02 sensor just days ago....Originally Posted by bangers

yeah - it's already replaced...and it doesn't look like it helped much.
check ya afm sensor reading.. can vastly affect fuel economy.. it helped with mine anyway..

you dont mention rust problems, so youre already ahead of most vl drivers in terms of things being a pain in the arse

still the same dizzy and leads on it since i got it, temp sensor? where is that.
