a member of the original trimatic design team was quoted as saying the damned thing can never be any good , even with all the fixes done, for one basic reason, it is too small.
he said the original design was good and strong but rejected by GMH as too expensive, hence the disaster they eventually produced
those old enough will remember the introduction of the traumatic on the HG holden, with some taxi owners giving up and having their cabs converted to powerglide, not a cheap or straightforward thing to do
then the trimatic had to be abandoned for the V8s with an imported turbo hydramatic fitted instead
how reliable or longlasting is the trimatic on the VL with the V8?
mines still going strong... and its done 300000 kms...
but ive got a new motor and turbo 350 to go in (the trimatic wont handle the new motor.. 355 stroker)
