Broken passenger door lock

Today, i found i am unable to lock or unlock my car from the inside of the passenger side door. the button just slides across without doing any thing, would some one please be able to tell me how to fix this and if its a big job..

pull the door trim off and have a look. the rod may have dropped off the locking mechanism.

once you start looking, things can sometimes be quite simple to fix My door lock is a bit dicky, but just having a look and a play with the mechanism always helps

would u happen to have central locking?

cus i do.. and this happens to me, i had to break in acouple times to many lol.. i ended up bending the rod that moves the sliding lock part, its never been save since...

i lock it and come back 15.. 20 minutes later to find it unlocked :| lol

i just removed the relay thingy, but its just a matter of bendin the rod into the correct place.. theres also some black boxes on those rods they have springs inside so it could be that too .

lucky i have 2 doors of a vb that has central locking im just gonna take that stuff and put in mine to fix it all up

go on do it! I did mine I even did my central locking & my solex locks... that was painful!


Honestly I even got my girlfriend to give me a hand one day told her to pull off one lot of door trims while I did the other side of my BF's car to get speakers out... she knows nothing... lol & she was so suprised & proud of herself that it was so easy! It really is piece of piss

Hey fury,Make sure your window is up first. Get a star screwdriver and remove the arm rest, get a flathead screwdriver and pop off the lock surround and handle surround, take the flathead screwdriver and pop off the window winder and the black triangle where the mirror is (carefully). Put your fingers under the doortrim (at the bottom) and feel for the clips and gently pull the doortrim from the door (without breaking any clips would be ideal). then you will have all the clips out slide the trim up and off the door.

You will then see a plastic sheet covering the guts of the door just peel it back enough to see how it works and if you get confused pulling the other door trim off will give you an idea of how it all looks inside.
