I have a 3L 1986 VL Executive and I have recently been offered a promotion at work which involves a hell of a lot of driving. I currently get 300-350ks a tank and I will be covering roughly 300ks every 2-3 days. I do not want to sell my car as it is sooo reliable and holds a special place in my heart.
I was thinking one way to get alot more ks out of it is an LPG conversion. Has anybody on here got 1 on their VL?? I want to know what kind of mileage you get out of the LPG tank, roughly what it costs to get done and if anybody knows a place in Sydney West that installs them.
Cheers
for the money you'll spend you could buy another vl.
yeah but that's not much these days, i think it should be a good idea, you would probably get less Ks out of a tank but its so much cheaper...
BUT STILL!!! we are selling gas to chine for 1c per litre!!! that angers me!!! we charge ourselves more than we charge a foreign country
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!
Well I went and got a quote for it today and they told me it would cost approx $2400-$2500.
The tank is 330mm/1100mm. So a massive massive portion of the boot is goneskies. I asked about what kind of mileage you get to the tank and he said about 350ks.
I figured it not worth it
it depends on if its tuned properly..
when i had my old vk (i know its not vl but still), i had it properly tuned and could get 500km/tank..
cheers

im a leech
id recommend you figure out why your fuel useage is soo high and forget the gas conversion
i rekon you should get near double that milage out of a tank of petrol i know mines a vn but i get 600 a tank
im not admiring your car im looking in disgust
Yeah my VL has the same prob with high fuel consumption as do many others. I intend to get it dyno'd to find the problem one day. its prolly one of these things= broken return fuel line, faulty/dirty coolant temp sensor, faulty O2 sensor, faulty AFM.
Can dynos find that sorta shit??? o2 sensor has been replaced still shit fuel consumption, afm is readin .386 ohms not sure if that means that it is completely fine, temp sensor is working but increasing only just over 200 rpm where temp sensor plug is removed.Originally Posted by ucwepn
do the O2 sensor first. if it was the others your car would run like a dog or not run at all. O2 sensor is meant to be changed regularly and is the usual problem behind poor fuel economy.Originally Posted by ucwepn
not all conversions cost so much u can get a second hand 1 pretty cheap i know i am taking mine of my car i get at least 400 per tank its an 80ltr but keep in mind u can only fill a gas tank up 80% an if u r going to b doing those ks for a long time it will pay 4 its self
I know i've replied to this already but i did some digging around. some people say the O2 sensor will stuff fuel economy, and i read somewhere the temp sender will too. someone told me the temp sender will stop the car running properly too.Originally Posted by ucwepn
