I've bought a T3/T4 for my N/A VL and have just found this on ebay, im wanting to know whether or not a) it does anything, and b) do i need/want it for when i put my turbo on?
Also does anyone have any idea of how to make a turbo manifold out of a stock VL manifold? I've heard it can be done...?
Thanks guys
found what on ebay?
Found what on ebay, the t3/4.. That is the turbo.Originally Posted by JBVL
Turbo manifold out of a stock one, don't bother. Second hand manifolds are 2-300 dollars.
Buy one of those High mount manifolds off ebay they are around $300. then you will need oil and water lines for the turbo. If the motor is a series one you will need a T piece. You will also need a turbo inlet, a crossover pipe and Don't forget to change the ECU and injectors to turbo items as it will run lean otherwise.
Thats just for the motor, you will need to do something about the auto and diff and brakes because standard items are too weak to cope with the turbo.
u also need to have oil feed/return, water feed/return outlets machined into the block, low compression forged pistons and so on cause ya standard RB30 wont last long. ur better off buying a turbo motor i have one for sale if ur interested my email is dangovier@optusnet.com.au
OPPS sorry guys! forgot to say what i was asking about...

Apparently the stock ecu and injectors are fine below 10psi? Im only wanting to run 7...
bumpage...
Also what do you guys think about these? Are they a necessity? I thought a wastegate was what kept the boost level where you want it...?
I had one, never fitted it so I sold it.
I wouldn't run too much boost on a standard motor without adequate cooling, 9-11psi is the limit I believe for a standard turbo engine but even that can be harmful if it is not in the right state of tune. Standard turbos run extremely rich because they are not intercooled this measure was to insure that the rich mixture helped to keep the pistons slightly cooler when giving it some shit. So if you add an intercooler you can lean the mixture to help it make more power and run more boost as well.
Stock.. N/A ECU and Injectors??Originally Posted by JBVL
Kaboom.
VLT stuff is fine though.
lol u want to run a highflow on a stock n/a....... all i have to say is u need to do alot more research.....and the stock exasust manifolds are cast iron u cant mod them succesfully... plus stock vlt manifolds go for aroound 200 bux
