Checkin fault codes

Hi, My mate has a VL stock and noticed his car not starting after being warm and in the hot arvo's I suggested a CAS is shot but would like to do a diagnostics test to confirm, I my self own a VS and not too clued up on VL's, I tryed a search for VL but theres too much mess to sort thro, could somone plz post the steps for checking the codes in a VL exec ?
