Dont know much about misfiring, but i think i may have a case of it.
When the revs are relatively low (especially on take off) the car is jerky until the revs hit about 2500. Is this misfiring?
It was serviced only a few weeks ago, but i forgot to mention it to the mechanic and he must not have picked up on it.
How do i fix this? is it my leads?
I have no idea how to do those computer tests so dont tell me to do those.
What else could this be?
Thanks all.
start by looking at the distributor head and rotor which may just need cleaning inside
Dirty injectors? Slowly getting worse or came on all of a sudden?
How do i check my distributor head and rotor? and what do i look for?
Sorry i dont know a lot about my vl
Yeh the problems slowly getting worse.
hey i had the same problem with it misfirng, took it to the mechanic, he replaced my dizzy cap and rotor, that fixed it quiet substancially but it came back, took it to an autoelectrician he replaced my CAS plug and now it works fne havent had a misfire since *touch wood*
hey i had the same problem with the whole misfiring thing, it misfired at around 2000-2500 revs in every gear, got to be quiet anooying on the highway, took it to the mechanic and while he was doin the service he also replaced the dizzy cap and rotor, he said they were stuffed, who knows i wasnt gonna ask questions, that fixedthe problem mostly still had some misfiring problems, took it to an autoelec and he replaced my CAS plug, runs like a dream now no misfiring since *touch wood*
Could be the Dwell Angle Sensor playing up also.Originally Posted by ryan_VL
It is located internal of the Distributor. Cost around $150 from Coventry's $200 plus from Auto Electrician.
Involves complete dismantle of Distributor to replace Sensor.
Can have this tested by Electrician
How old are your spark plugs. They might need changing or the gaps might need resetting they should have a gap of1.0mm if it is wider it can cause surging at low revs.
Hey i took a friends advice and changed my leads, which fixed it. Runs oh so smoothly now and much more responsive. Thanks
yeah mate its your plug on top off the dizzy, when the car is running give it a wiggle and you will here it miss fire the wires come lose or are corroded nice work.
