okay, so for my first post....Im gunna ask you guys....how much is a virgin RB30? And how much is a reconditioned RB30?

you could phone several engine reconditioners to ask whether exchange engines are still available
as fror an engine, you may be better buying a complete car, if you have somewhere to store it
for example I got a VL wagon for about $250 from the council, it had been dumped, probably could have got it for less, but it had all my options so is a good parts car, wreckers who still bother with VLs pay about $150

the only thing wrong with the engine was a wrecked air flow meter, with another the engine runs well but I cant test it on the road a/c no rego

Welcome to the forums and I applaud your choice of commodores, VL is easily the best commo IMO and many agree, Engines well they can vary dramatically depending on what has been done in the reco and who did the reco and what parts were used etc. I think they will prolly start from around $1300 for a reco unit with no accessories.

I paid 2650 for my engine to be rebuilt.

Exchange engine up this way they wanted my old engine + 2,800 dollars. I laughed at that one.

And second hand you can get from 150-300. Wouldn't pay any more.
