Default a lil engine problem mayb

ok i have a Rb 20 e, berlina, recently i have taken off the fuel start catalyst, put on a poddy, put on a big bore exhaust, and put sum oil in, i got mum to get me the oil so she came home with $13 stuff for 4L.. its caltex cheap stuff, but i needed it bad so i put it in, any way since all this stuff has been done, i have lost a little bit of power. and i put the exhaust on after the poddy and the engine sounds crappy now, like not that nice.. and a tiny bit more smoke now when the cars on out of exhaust, i think it could just be the oil i put in am i right?? if so how the hell do i change it? and would i need new filter to?

the smoke could just be the exhaust. its coated in stuff to protect it and burns off. also the sound will change over the next month as it wears in.

Penrite HPR15 is too thin for my tastes it's like water nearly and doesn't give much protection and it goes black way too fast in my experience. If you have more than 200,000 k's on your motor go for penrite HPR 40 or if you want it to rev free'er but lose a little protection use HPR30.

Penrite is the only oil I will use and have never broken an engine component using it.

I always seem to gain a bit of power using penrite and it sounds nice when it revs out too.

it might just be cos you did a service. the only proven oil to increase horsepower is Royal Purple. it's about $80 for 5litres. penrite is good though. they have odd grades of oil though.

Maybe it is psychological that I can extract all the power from my motor without fear of it snapping something or spinning a bearing or somethink like that LOL. Ask juzza he has been in the car after the oil has come good after an oil change only and there was a definate improvment

i used magnatec once and it was sh7thouse i dumped it after about 3 thousand k's and went back to penrite HPR15 works good and was recomended to me buy mechanice at holden who has a vl.He said it's good because that oil is recomended for turbo's or supercharged cars but as the vl runs warmer than most engines it's perfect
