Hi all,
looking for some advice re. high beam/low beam globes. normal ones really don't cut it so i want something brighter, i have already replaced the lenses with some aftermarket ones which made a world of difference, they went from 1 candle's worth in each side to about 3 candle's worth. anyway just wondering what the best globes to go are without having to do any major rewiring, except i am already having to relocate the fuse for the lights cause it's melting the fuse box... prices would be good also, thanks to anyone that can help...

get blue vision. about $60 for a set of parkers and low beam. I think Phillips do a good highbeam too.
yeh, go the bluevisions, will give a nice white light, about the same distance as what you will have in there now, otherwise, get philips visionplus, 50% extra light over standard. good to see you upgraded your lenses aswell, no point in getting better globes if you still have the 18yr old lenses on there.
yeah i'll say... those crappy old yellow things can't have been reflecting anything... these bluevisions, are they legal? i've heard blue globes aren't... or is that just the name? btw thanks for the help and quick reply... you guys are the bestOriginally Posted by hakhawk
bluevisions are very Legal, as they produce a white light, but look blue at certain angles. theyre called bluevisions coz theyre a blue tinted globe, which filters out the yellow light.
the blue globes that are illegal are the blue led parkers or the blue rubber sleeves for parker globes, coz they are just plain blue light.
sweet thanks guys... gonna go spend some dough on monday... or whenever this string of public holidays finishes...![]()
no problems, glad i could help. oh, for reference, heres my wagon with crystalvisions althrough-out. theyre expensive and illegal coz they dont pass adr coz they only have a lifespan of 350hrs, adr has to be 400.
the vision plusses or the bluevisions? they got a blue tint on the globe?
i started with bluevisions, then got the crystals free, full set from philips rep.
thats new lights too, not old ones.
and i really need to adjust my lights, coz low beam is shockingly short, as i havent had them setup right after putting the new lights in(not the globes, they dont need adjusting)
edit: and i get soo many people flashing me thinking my high beams are on wiht the lows, ask hozy form the other week.
i was led to beleive that the philips blues werent actually brighter, think i read it in their advertisment somewhere...
you may need to upgrade your fuse rail if you fit more powerful globes. (learnt the hard way, melted fuses) a bloke on ebay does a good fuse fail conversion and looks good. just do a search i am sure he would be still selling them. i have 60W bluevision and 100w high beam globes in mine when the fuse pannel melted so i would sugest an upgrade. not only the high beam melted but the lowbeam fuse also.
goodluck.
Yeah I gotta adjust my headlights as well after I washed the lenses when my front end was off, put it all back together and its OK but pointing too low. project for the week while my cars off the road. mine don't have a blue tint but they put out a much whiter light than the candles that were in there.
yup, planning to do that before i put the new globes in as you can already see some melting of the box as it is... don't worry i'm not the type of person that want's electrical fires under my bonnet...Originally Posted by lil_oneblue
i was lucky with mine. it melted the fuse completley. all there is is the melted plastic from the fuse and the wire is still pluged in. it was still working before i wrecked the car. (am wrecking it at moment) i was i guess lucky.
goodluck mate
yeah my parents had a vl where the entire fusebox melted, which screwed nearly everything inc fuel system... was not cheap to repair... i don't want that bill funnily enough...
yeh, the philips blue visions and crystals aren't "brighter", but they look it from oncoming and are just a nicer light to drive with, less strain on the eyes.
