    welcome
it seems the metal where the glass is glued to was left as bare metal and rust is very common for both the windscreen and back window surrounds

to do it properly, metal needs to be welded in place. or in severe cases the surrounding panel replaced, available from rare spares

before buying a VL, check for this rust, and using a magnet, for poorly done rust repairs

ive heard off instances where its cost upwards in $700 but i think that was a bit pricey i recon for front only maybe $500ish BUT this can be more or lease as you cant tell how much needs doing till its takin apart,
dont quote me on these prices, best bets going to get a quote at a crash repair shop, most shops hear in SA do it for free

Usually you won't know the price until they start removing glass etc to look at at, as the rust an be hidden and extend down the firewall. But as mentioned, can be up to around $1k. When I had mine done there were only a few tiny specs of rust visible, but it needed new panels welded in and turned out to be a major job.
