u can get th ekit for about $90 and that includes the tensioners and everything else aswell. which ur better off doin the whole lot at once. the one on my vl snapped wen i first got it and it cost me $90 for the kit plus hr 1/2 labour so yea, it wasnt to bad.

just one question for ya mate... were u drivin wen it snapped? and if so, did u put it in nuetral and roll, or leave it in drive ar gear (dependin if manual or auto) or wot? wot exactally did u do?

the reason i ask is coz it can do damage to lifters or other things in the motor wen u snap a timin belt. dont ask me how, thats just wot ive been told by about 50 mechanics hahaha

on some engines the cam belt also drives the water pump and often the extra tension of the new belt damages the water pump a bit later, however on the VL the water pump is driven from a separate belt so I dont think it needs doing
BTW how long does the VL 6 cyl water pump usually last?

you might as well do the pump now cos if it dies you'll have to pull it all apart again. they aren't expensive so kill two birds with one stone.

I agree with MR FAT PIZZA,
do the lot otherwise if the water pump starts to leak once you have finished replacing the cambelt it will piss you off. Trust me its happened to me twice now!!!

haha i didnt have that problem wen mine snapped. i was drivin along and it just died so i left it in drive and came to a rollin stop then shut it down. RACQ came out and took timin belt cover off and pulled out about 8 pieces of it so wen it went, it REALLY went lol.

but yea, thank fully it didnt do any damage to water pump or the lifters or anything else.
