Arrow I have ECU troubles with my manual conversion!

Hi ive finished everything in my VL for the manual conversion but now I just need to sort out the ECU side of things.

I have the loom that runs from the two gearbox plugs to the top of the engine bay just above the clutch master cylinder and I pluged it all up.

Their are also more automatic plugs that are not in use now, so I just unpluged them and left them cable-tied up.

Now the engine won't turn over when I turn the key, so what do I need to make the car run and so the reverse lights will work ect...

Please advise me on what I need....

well ive got this 2 its called the "gear selctor switch" when i had my converson done i was told that i should go see a auto electrsion, so that he could bridge the the plug,

over the master cylinder there is a gray clip, reconect that 1 back up and it should be all good, the cable is about a meter long and has a round thing on the end

if the car dosent still start then place a screw driver or your finger in the centre of the circle and turn it till the engine will start

You may have injector pulse trouble using the auto ecu on a manual because the pulses are different for each. Auto is more constant (fuel being delivered all the time), while the manual ecu has a fuel cutoff when the clutch is engaged. Read about it on calais turbo, thats where I read it a while ago.

i just bridged the two wires on the grey plug that are for the neutral start switch, i left the auto computer hooked up for a couple of weeks and the car ran fine.

their shouldn't be a fuel cutoff as the engine will stall. the pumps only have two functions....full on or off. any un-used fuel goes into the fuel return line. the amount of fuel going into the motor is determined by the throttle position. the car will always think it's in neutral as you've closed the circuit as mentioned above. so it will idle like an auto in neutral. when you accelerate you depress the throttle and it allows more fuel in. as i said the pump is at maximum flow already.

Well thats what I read when I was researching using a manual ecu in my auto. You can use an auto one for a manual but not the other way around because the injector pulse is different.

i agree with the fact you can use an auto ecu in a manual but not the other way around.

Cheers to all of you who commented in this thread I sorted it out by plugging the selector and turning the selector as if it wer in neutral that worked sweet as a nut.

Hey there. Just to give some advice about this problem. The way you fixed it yeah it works and all but if the selector moves you wont start. A better way that i use is if you go to where the battery is and against the inner gaurd of the engine bay you will see 2 or 3 relays screwed there. There is 1 there that has 2 thick purple wires, and this is the relay that is controlled by the infamous gear selector. All you do is pull the relay out, get about 2 inches of wire and either dodgly bear both ends and stick it in where the relay was only bridging the 2 purple wires or you can do it properly by crimping male spade terminals on the ends and bridging the 2 purple wires. both ways will give you the same result,(a car that starts). and you wont have to find a spot for the stupid selector switch.
I did this for future refrences, but hey mate id do it this way instead of the other way.

but if there is a relay there would it be there for a reason, to cut down amps or something,
if holden was low on money with the vls project why would they put extra money into a usless relay set up if its not needed...

Its actually the cut off relay between the key and the starter motor. The gear selector is only there for a switch to energize the relay when it is in neatral or park. How many amps do you think that gear selector would hold heh. Thats why the relay is there . Man im an auto elec so i do think i know what im going on about. And if you actually have a look at a orig man setup, it doesnt have this relay there, the wire isnt interupted..........
