i don't think it will really matter as long as you get the bellhousing to suit the RB30 and that particular box. plus you'll need the length of the box for a tailshaft to fit. you may need to get one made.

Any particular reason why you want the supra box and not just going the straight bolt up r33 5speed box?

My fantasy is to drop a VL turbo motor in mine, and then bolt it onto a close ratio 6-speed from the 350Z!

I'd say just stick with the 33 5speed. they go from anywhere between 1-2k from what I've gathered, you can use the mx7 flywheel and clutch - I think, some people say yes and some say no. If not you'll have to drop the flywheel and clutch down to the smaller size which just so happens to be the same size as the mf5 gearbox size. Then you just have to source yourself a good clutch, plug in the speedo, the yolk for the tailshaft can be sourced new very easily. And then you just need to make an adapter place for the slave cylinder and away you go. Easy apparently.

Not trying to be a party pooper or anything, but if its a n/a rb30, then why the need for the bigger box, you'll be amazed how much of a flogging the stockers can handle ???

Well my intentions were to turbo it and do alot of work to the engines, BUT i got told yesterday by a very good mechanic that the non tubro'd engines in the VL are shit, and if i was to turbo it,it's alot of ****ing around and we'll eventualy fu(k the motor, sooooo what i'm thinking of doing is selling this one (which i really don't want ot because i love her lol) and getting a VL turbo...... i also thought of putting in a turbo'd VL engine into this car,but the cops are dogs and we'll harras me because i'll be on my P's..... but if the car came out with an allready turbo'd engine, there ain't much i can do about it he he he... ugh i dun know what ta do HELP LoL........ oh and the gear box's in VL's are shit, mines already shitting its self :-)

My mf5 box lasted ages, they're pretty strong but you can get stronger, if you converted your current engine it wouldn't be as bad as the mechanics making it out to be. But it could be nasty if you didn't entirely know what you were doing.

Save your cash, and be patient, something will pop up.

Why are the RB30E motors shit?

Did he give specific examples, or is it just his personal opinion?

eh,i can't member everything he said, just that they wern't built to withstand power...... only the ones that came out already turbo'd are any good to do up.....

what a crock of shit. they are the same engine. just different pistons. the block can handle upto 1100hp. sounds like your mechanic don't know shit.

Yeah, sounds like he's just trying to milk some cash or doesn't know what he's on about.

Most mechanics won't convert an n/a to a turbo because they reckon it will explode straight away.

If you have the patience, get yourself a rebuildable RB30T, and slowly do it up, that way, buy the time your off your P's, ya ready to raise hell !!

rb30e and rb30et.. blocks are the same if you were comparing those two.

if you leave the rb30 in there your probably best not camming it, you could put a turbo on it if you wanted but the cam you'd want would be for a turbo application, so you'd have to do it after you converted. or just before. otherwise it'd be of no benefit at all really.

a shitload of rwkw you won't get as easy as you want it.

the old equation comes to mind.

wat i told that was a better option would 2 be gettin ride of the RB30 and buyin a RB25, or an RB26DET do u dont have to do any engine work to turbo it and it just bolts straight onto the VL crossmember...i dunno what your thoughts about that is tho.
