Engine and VIN numbers

Hey guys,
I'm looking at a VL in the next couple of days. It is at an auction place. The car itself has been stolen and recovered (I presume from the missing lights and so on) as well as the tags and compliance plates. I am interested in buying it and fixing it up for myself and wanted to know where abouts on the engine or chassis are the Engine and VIN numbers so I can get them to VicRoads so I am able to get the car registered again...

Don't think any VL's got Vin numbers I think!!

Engine number near right engine mount...

check re registration before buying it as it may be very difficult, the engine no as mentioned is on the block near the oil filter, but Ive never been able to find mine

the chassis or vin number is stamped on the top of the LH front suspension tower but may have been ground off

the cars details may have been used to rebirth another stolen VL and I would be doubtful about buying it if intending to re register it
