    Default Installing Injectors.

    hey guys and girls, just picked up a set of injectors on a fuel rail and i'm looking at installing them this weekend and just need to know;

    A. can u install the injectors and fuel rail yourself or is it a major pain in the arse for a person with beginner/intermidiatte knowledge.

    B. is the process self explanitary once you pop the boot or is there things you need to tip toe around and all that.

any help would be much appreciated.

    Darren.

the boot????? it's not exactly an easy job. make sur you get your inlet gaskets as you'll have to remove it all to make it easier. check the o'rings on the injectors as well incase they are dry or split and replace them if necessary as you'll have to pull it all apart again otherwise.

Changing injectors, I'll talk you through it.

    Step 1: Close the boot
    Step 2: Open the Bonnet.

Depressurise the fuel lines. Start the car, open the fuse box and remove the fuel pump fuse, wait for the car to stall.

Okay, now its just a matter of disconnecting all your inlet stuff, mainly just the pipe that connects to your throttle body. Then it’s a matter of undo-ing the top half of the inlet plenum. The big metal thing with ECCS on it. Should be six bolts. Disconnect all your vac lines and sensors, be sure to label them to each bit just to make sure you know where they go if your not feeling confident remembering.

Clean the gasket off both sides of the plenum, being sure not to drop any gasket pieces into the inlet.
Take off the fuel rail, 3-4 screws I think.
Undo the injectors- 1 screw per injector, hard to crack but they'll come.
Once you have the injectors off the fuel rail you'll have to put your new ones on. If they are second hand I'd get them cleaned first.
Put them on, tighten the hose clamps, screw down the rail, screw the injectors into the engine- tight.

New gasket, bolt back on the plenum. Fuel pump fuse back in.
    Reconnect sensors and vac lines.
Start the car, check for leaks. No leaks, good.

Tighten everything again the next day. Plenum tightening sequence is from the middle two bolts working your way out.
That’s the basics, I'd recommend a workshop manual otherwise.

If your doing them all its better (essential??) to remove and replace the rail with the new injectors on it. Don't forget the petroleum jelly for the O rings and to Lube the hoses with a little petrol before sliding them onto the rail.

If you don't feel confident get some workshops to give you a quote they charge around $60 an hour and it could at worst case take them 3 hours coz they are faster than us LOL

I didn't replace my leaky injector myself even with the manual, there are too many little seals and stuff that have to go on in the right order. I was like Nope and rang selectmaz and paid $120 drive away for a no.2 injector installed. (including injector)
