Hey guys, my mum has a skyline and its leaking water really bad from what looks like a welch plug from the head.
Is it easy to replace ?
Well from what I gather, good luck as it may be easier to do it yourself.
However if you can locate it easily and your sure its a welsh plug and you've got clear access too it. You pretty much tap one side of it with a nail punch until the otherside rotates out. Drop the coolant first of course.
Then once you get enough of it to grab, get some vice grips or pliers and rip the sucker out.
Then its just a matter of getting a really good welsh plug sealant and refitting. I hear to refit you fit a socket roughly teh same size over the top, and tap it in.
I would get an experienced machanic to replace the plug as it can be tricky, the holes can be in different sizes, requiring choosing a plug that isnt too big or small
if the inside of the old plug is rusted, this suggests the others will go soon
bax is right if u can access the welsh plug then its not that hard to replace and his method is right unfortunely if its hard to get to u may be up for a big repair bill
the socket method is correct
