VL seats - what have you done?

Hi all just thought I'd start a thread about what seats you guys have fitted to your cars and what mods were needed to make them fit.

I'll get the ball rolling:

Installed all the tan VH SL/E seats in my vl today and am very happy with them, look great and super comfy, to make them fit due to the rail height on the passenger side inside rail the seat sits higher than normal by around an inch or so. I dismantled one of the rails from my exec seats and "doubled up" the rails ont the pass side outside rail using longer high tensile steel bolts to make the seat sit flat.I

Yeah I had 2 different seats in mine for the last 9 months or so....... seat covers cover all LOL

my old car had xs seats in it, bolted straght in and were nice and firm

then i crashed it and swaped them for a set of mags of my cosin
they were then fitted into his vk wagon

I'm going s2 grey calais seats.. What will I do to make them fit.

Nothing really, I just have to make the brackets in the rear for the headrests.

are making these brakets easy? and are rear head rest needed or can u rip some front 1s out of a seat and use em

You just need to find a way to clip them in, head to the hardware shop LOL or you can chase up the proper clip things (rare) they need to be welded or riveted to the body.

Rear headrests are different from the fronts and are quite hard to find seperately, you usually need a calais interior to get them.

welded or riverted? aint the head rest clipped into the top ofd the rear seat not the car body, or are you talking about the brakets taht holdes the rear seat section on2 the car

yah i saw soem of those head rest clips on ebay not long ago

I have OBX Monaco sport seats in my VL, I had to make up some plates for the original VL seat runners to mount them.

Here you go, grey bits are the pins, pins are sitting in the brackets.

The seats, complete with pins of their own I guess, sit down into what you see there.And those metal brackets I don't have, so I'm going to have to craft my own little bracket, or pay through the roof for someones second hand scraps of steal.

Yeah my back seat top section has the area for the brackets removed from the foam so I assume the sl/e ones would be the same as vk and vl calais. They sell the pins on ebay sometimes but the brackets themselves are like rockinghorse sh1t.

I'm thinking of using the latches that the bolt slides into on gate locks as a semi permanent solution, they will hold the pins no worries.

Sorry man, are those your auctions? I paid 50 dollars for the cluster I have and the pins are already on there way, I usually don't use ebay to find these things because they're usually always too highly priced.

Got the most comfortable seats, Calais put into an 86 VL, so much better then standard 86 seats in the VL, almost as good as good, if not better,then the arm chair in the living room, makes driving so much more comfortable

bookin my car in for full interior job includin vx clubsport seats front and rear (not a typo) it will be a 4 seater and retrimmed still hav to decide on a colour and type of fabric (leather or suede or a bit of both)

note: my car will be extremely unique and i will not be showin pictures until completion because i dont wanna be copied

Suede is a bad idea for a daily driver in my opinion, it would look mad tho.

Well if its just vx clubby custom interior it will be unique, but won't be rare.

i am scouting a couple of leather seats either out of a clubsport or a new commo should look sweet i was thinking of doin the back seat but i need to work on that plan as i think they might be wider ill be checking it out but i think they would be sweet

ALSO I HAVE A PAIR OF monza autotechnica racing seats with the harness holes and rails on them for sale RED AND BLACK in case anyone is interested leave me a pm looking for about $450 in brisbane lol
