ok, after quite a while with no problems.. i got a new one...
My BRAKES...
whenever i start using the brakes, first of all they are very spongy, (needs bleeding which i have no idea how to do)
also sounds like it leaking air on the back brakes.. jus makes loud noise of blowing out lots of air through a little hole, and some king of straining the actual brakes,,
Sounds like all the noise is coming from the back..
ALSO my brakes are only half as effective as they were..
My mate said it might be the brake booster.. any ideas?
I wonder what those scales on the top right side of my posts do...
rear discs or drums?
I have a front brake problem, ppl who drive my car (that own vl's say my brakes are looser; and my gearstick is really hard to move but that parts irrelevant).
It's using a fair bit or brake fluid, and noticed yesterday morning that the inside of my mag is covered in the shit, i haven't checked yet, but would it be the hose or the calliper that is stuffed, i have replaced one hose on one side, not quite sure what side come to think of it.
i have some hoses and caliperes and disc's and even a booster and master cyl if anyone is interested.

what area u from lil_oneblue
the back are drums.. but i was jus wonderin if ppl could throw some ideas at me of what it could be..

air sound might be air getting compressed in the lines and having know where to xcape (needs bleeding) ands the brakes are less afective could be the rear drums might need fixing, ive hered about vls have a automatic shoe adjuser on the drums but afeter the yrs the adjust dosnt work so you lose maxxim braking power on the rear,Originally Posted by markiuliano
i think it can be adjusted manually but from there on im out of knowlige, hope it helps yah with the prob

its fairly easy to take off the rear drums and inspect the linings, etc, drive in reverse and brake a few times to adjust the read drum brakes and see what difference this makes, assuming the self adjusters havent been removed during some previous brake job to save time which occasionally happens, sadly
sounds like a leaking wheel cylinder![]()
so u guys dont think its the brake booster>?
It definitly needs bleeding, (can someone post up a link to a how-to)
but that still donesnt explain the other noise when i brake, if the back had discs i'd say it needs new rear discs, but thtere drums so i dont know what the sound is.. definitly coming from the rear tho..

Sounds like you have brake fluid leaking from the rear brakes. Take your drums off and check to see if the wheel cylinders are leaking or it could be a pipe or hose that is leaking. Get a mate to pump the brakes while you are under the car so you can hear exactly where the noise is coming from.
if the rears are disks it may be the noisemaker that rubs against the rotor to tell you the linings need replacing

I suggest you get in touch with a qualified brake mechanic you obviously have a problem because if you don't know how to bleed the brakes then i can't see how you can fix it.We all could be guessing what is wrong with your car for ages.
