Default how to keep the carpet and underfelt dry

Its usually recommended to remove the carpet and underfelt from a car and let it dry out in the sun occasionally, but this is very slow and difficult on a VL and I suspect it never gets done

This would normally promote rust on the top of the floor from the continual dampness, especially in winter

has anyone had floor rust problems with their VL?
generally if the carpet and underfelt are damp, the windows will fog up on the inside with the car left out on a summy day with the windows all closed

if you try leaving your vents open when the car is parked, allows some moist air to escape, you still have to ask yourself, though, where is the moisture coming from though? are all your floor bungs in? if you ever do take your carpet and under lay out, make sure it is ABSOLUTELY dry, before reinstallation.....

Interesting.. I took the carpet and the underlay out of my old car, 1987 creation date, and well. I couldn't find one spec of rust in the floor. It doesn't look like it can rust, going by the material it is.

Meanwhile, on the topic of rust....

Every time it rains my boot gets water in it which is causing rust to form on the roof of the boot, not to mention makes my carpet and underlay damp etc. Does anyone else have this problem with the VL? Maybe I should just replace the seals and be done with it?

    very common fualt on vls,
the metal lip under the ruber seal rusts away adn alows the boot to fill with water, can be fixed by getting a new piece and rewelded in,
under the window there tends to be rust under there, as holdens didnt paint under the window seal when the car was made.
so over the years it tends to rusts away and alows water to entre the gap under the window and seep onto teh parcel shelf (making it rust away underneath), this then runs down the side into the seat belt tensioners causing the insides of the coil 2 rust shut and seize, the water finely finds its self resting on the floor of the boot, soaking the carpet
