I have a VL turbo that is consistantly blowing air flow metres ive been through 4 now including an aftermarket and it is just getting worse.
1st time - was givening it a fair bit high revs - motor cuts out, air flow blown
2nd time - was givening it a fair bit again - motor cuts out, air flow blown
3rd time - just a little splash moderate reves - motor cuts , air flow blown
4th time - idleing decided i would only drive to get to mech -motor cut again
this is killing me at the moment cause all the auto elec will tell me is you have
a blown air flow metre (obviously).
anyone had any trouble like this, any help would mean the world
is it completly sucking off the little cables into the motor?
im not wise in this area but my guess is that the motor could be causing so much pressure (sucking) in the intake that its just sucks the thin brittle cable off,
more detailis needed on what happns to the afm
just thought off: is the car having a back fires in the intake, causing the afm cables to inscinerate?

the little cables as in - inside the afm there is a sort of triangle arrangement
of thin wire (like in a globe) if so they are all intact on every single one
of them
backfires no - never had a single one
this is why it is so puzzleing, specially as im trying to sell it (vlt calais front
aero body kit, 18 VT clubby rims, asteriod silver, 2.5inch pwr intercooler, blow off valve) almost at the point i want to dump it at the tip or just get a few quick grand to get rid of the damm thing![]()
Try checking the plug that goes into your afm, there could be a bad connection or a wire broken where it goes into the plug that only contacts occasionally.
have u cheacked the ohms runnign though the afm , it could be running way to lean or rich causing th motor to choke

the O2 sensor and AFM work together. maybe has something to do with that.
And this shows up when u ran a self diagnostic from ur ECU..Originally Posted by omnivl

I was confused now I'm just not so sure!!
RIP Peter (perfect) Brock....
well it definatly screws the afm, cause as soon as i get another one
everythings ok until it goes again,
ill check the ohms what should theyread?,
the o2 sensor is caked in oil might replace that one and see, are N/A and turbo's run the same o2?
wires double check and see?
and if all else fails ill grab a wolf 3d
thanks for the input if you have any other ideas that would be great
i have a feeling it has something to do with the plug does
anyone know what the readings should be on each of the terminals
or point me in the right direction.
thanks
the o2 sensor is caked in oil? why?
n/a and turbo is the same yes.
what is actually happening though? im still not understanding the problem, what do you mean by the afm blowing?
check your alternator output, if its overcharging it will kill the AFM quicksmart
