VL voltage meter not registering

after having the battery on the charger yesterday, I've noticed that the voltage meter does not register. When the motor is started the needle moves fractionally at the low end of the red scale but not any further. All I did was disconnect the neg earth lead then the pos lead prior to charging, then recon after charging. Can you pls help?

VL s are notorious for bad contacts on the positive wire bundle at the battery term. end>Clean all wiring harness plugs and terminals and try again.Use spray contact cleaner if you can afford it .Good luck.

Thanks groucho, the fusible connectors were especially dirty. Seems to work OK now.
