    Default Demister Relay

    Vl SL SEdan.

My rear window demister has stopped working. I have checked the fuse (ok), the switch is working and the demister LED turns on/off when the switch is pushed. I am not getting any power to the demister itself.

With the fan fuse removed, I can hear a relay operating somewhere behind the dash, but can't locate it. There is supposed to be a fuse and relay panel by the drivers right leg, but this has been replaced by a solid state assembly (original). Found the indicator relay tucked away near there, but still can't locate the demister one.

Anyone know where this relay is? It's infuriating to be able to hear it, but not find it.

    Thanks, Chris

I'm not getting power to either of the wires that plug into the demister itself, so it seems to be a relay contact problem.

    Default Found It

Rear winder demister module. A black plastic box (sealed), is screwed to the right hand panel, beside the drivers right leg, behind the bonnet release cable. Unit is about 140 X 100 X 30. Pig to find, because the sound insulating felt is glued to it, and conceals it.

It has 3 plastic lugs for screws, bottom, front, and top. Has 2 multi wire plugs in the top. Got one from a wrecker, and demister is functional again.

I think this unit also does the wipers.

I can post a photo if you want, but you need to look under the felt.

    Chris
