VL Cam Timing

When setting the cam timing the genuine holden manual shows 52 belt spaces between the timing marks but the old belt and the new one both have a white marks at 53 spaces apart. Things look right at the 53 space mark but I was wondering if there had been a change in timing specs since the manual was released? Does anyone have some experience with this?

well apparently nissan made the motor and set it at the 53 tooth, but when holden got there hands on it they placed it at 52nd tooth, i have been thinking about moving min to the 53rd tooth as it runs better aparntly but i havnt got round 2 it
