Auto transmission TPS: contains two sets of contacts, one set monitors idle position and the other set monitors full throttle.

Manual transmission TPS: contains only one set of contacts, to monitor idle position

    another question:-

when you do a gearbox conversion does the TPS need to be changed? or only if you change the ECU to a manual ECU as i was planning on keeping the auto ECU cos it has a chip in it.

from what i can figure out i can leave the auto TPS on as i am closing the neutral switch so the car will always think the car is in neutral. The auto TPS only drops the revs when you put it into neutral cos it has an idle wire. So effectively the car will idle like neutral when the clutch is in as it doesn't need a higher rev to hold gear like an auto anyway.

i've wanted to know the same question but ppl just been blabbin their technical bullshit at me, chek this out

"Its not absolutely necessary but definitely advisable. The auto runs a variable resistance TPS whereas the manual TPS is an on/off switch type. The auto TPS is used in conjunction with the auto ecu to map the fuel input by the injectors."

... that dont mean much to me, i have to think to know what it means ... i dont like thinking at all

i recently found a plug dangerling from the loom near my oil filter, i found out that it was ment to be conected to my TPS but when i got teh motor and box swaped over it wasnt need as it was diffrant wires, so i think if u do the box swap u must swap the TPS or u will have to mod the cables
