I'm trying to get all the lost ancient info put back together on how to tune the VL's. I have most of it now but just need the binary images from the eprom on the ECU's, I don't have any VL ECUs so can't do it myself. I'm after any and all of the NA and Turbo binaries and a dump of the VG30 eprom would also be good even aftermarket tunes if you have them.
If anyone of you VL peoples had to foresight to save these to your computer back when VL's were all the rage, before everything got lost in time could you post them up. I'll put up all the info I have in this VL section once it's complete
have you tryed calaisturbo as they might have them, ill check now 4 yah

Thanks for the search. I do have prety much all the info now, just missing the actual VL binaries. All it will take is unsoldering the eprom from a VL ecu and reading it in a eprom reader/burner and retunes are go. I'm still getting everything sorted that I've downloaded in the last few days.
It doesn't seem the guys that were doing this a few years ago were ever able to find the injector flow rate address in the Turbo binary, which is VERY important for the turbo boys that need big injectors but it looks like the NA tune has the same address as the VG30 which is known.
It also seems that the VG30 motors tune does run an RB30 so it should be jsut a matter of swapping some of the RB30ET maps into the VG30 tune to get it to run smooth then using that as your base. Either that or converting the NA tune to turbo. Anyway I don't even have a VL so if any of you VL guys have the nerd power to put this into practise, go for it. I'll be posting more soon. You can also real time tune with your latop, with an eprom emulator on these ecu's and a couple little programs
here are all the VL bins i have
Rob
Thanks Bob
What happened to that guy Darkhalf that was really into his VL's?. I find alot of stuff about him on old message baords and in cache from dead forums and web pages, he was trying to invent all kinds of stuff for VL's a couple of years ago. Well back to sorting VL info![]()
Ok, Ive decided the old .jp program Romeditor is pretty crusty. I'm going to try and make a xdf file for tuner pro from the VL addresses
Ok here is the first version of the Tunerpro VL RB30E/T XDF.
There is still stuff missing from it but it should be useable as it is. I based all this on address's a dude called darkhalf found a few years ago but he didn't find some things. I'm going to try and finish it but no promises, darkhalf seems like a fairly smart guy so it might be a battle to find stuff he couldn't, but I'll try.
Also I don't know why the airfuel ratios are what they are? it's a bit oddbut anyway I'd take a pretty good bet on the RB taking a fair bit more radical spark curve than the stock one, so I'd say there is a fair bit more mumbo left in the engine over the stock tune. Well see what you VL dudes can do with it
p.s get the right binary from the zip file Bob posted up there ^^^ and I still have alot of things to post up about all this later
so with all this stuff would u be able to do anything along the lines off making a memcal or empom up for my car, (im bit slow with this stuff still learning)
i as i asked you a while ago when you were doing the free vn and vp memcals and you said that you would work on 1 for the vl at a later date,
if you are able to get anything sorted i will be intressted in your services and willing for any postage fees and cost that may be needed

You could make one succesfully with just that file I posted and the ones Dr Bob posted so far. For the VL you need to pop open the ECU and de solder the eprom (solder sucker and braid makes it easy) then solder a socket into it so you can change eproms/tunes easily. I don't know how the NA VL responds to more timing but from what I've read in old stories, it helps a fair bit. The spark map has a huge dip in it in the mid range that drops down to like 16 degrees when in theory that motor should be running 28 and 29 degrees at that speed.
I'm not sure if that's to tone down the grunt or was to stop pinging on crusty fuel, but theres only one way to find out, but if it can take 29 degrees there and 31 on the top end and 20 down low without pinging then it should make quite a large difference
we need a guiney pig, any offers???? jkz

RIP Peter (perfect) Brock....
I found this pdf, that's from an old mag, I remember another mag once that knocked half a second? or a full second in a NA VL off the 0-100 with a chip. I expect it would be pretty easy to match powerchips 10% increase with a few tests or maybe even just one. What are you guys running 0-100 with the stock timing?. Dead stock they could only do 11 seconds right? Some of the dizzy spinning guys were getting 9 seconds flat and even a bit under in NA Auto VL's.
I think you could get a VL quick enough to be hanging onto the back bumper of the average VN 0-100 without spending anything on it. Didn't the VL guys remove the mesh filtering screen in the inlet back in the day?

I'd like that increase from 114kw-125kw, niceOriginally Posted by greenfoam

Get that "tunerpro" and the file I posted up there ^ and the binaries Bob posted and you are good to go, as far as spark advance and fuel maps go, I need to post romeditor too but you don't need that. It's just an old school editor especially for nissans
Any of you guys got your VL's running new tunes yet?. Doesn't seem to be much action going on around here
can you get it running better than a powerchip without having to run optimax?
so to get all this info to are ecu what is need?

You need an eprom burner, you'll find out all about them in the vn section.Originally Posted by VL Berlina 5speed

i don't have the stuff to do it myself. i could post you a spare ecu i have if you can do it for me. then i can be the guinea pig.

Hey there green,
I own a stock vl berlina 5 speed manual running on dual fuel, I am very interested in retuning my eprom. I have never done anything like this before but i do have soldering skills.
I just have a few questions for you...
1. Where can I find a eprom programmer? and how much are they and what else do you need to get setup?
Any help will be greatly appreciated thanx.....cheers
Lets work as a TEAM and do it MY WAY!!![]()
1. Go on ebay and look for "willem eprom" - if you're in vic a place called darkwire technology delivered mine next morning!
otherwise there's ones in asia which i think are a bit cheaper?
they're under 100 bux either way.
2. you will then need to unsolder your eprom from your ECU, using a solder sucker and iron.
3. Then replace that eprom with a socket, so the eprom can be inserted/removed as you see fit....
4. then you install tunerpro, download the XDF greenfoam forgot to tell me about making (the one that's pinned up above)
5. then you download the binaries that dr. bob nicely provided!
6. then you open both up in tunerpro, go to the spark graph, adjust spark to how you want it
7. save the binary
8. burn it onto a chip
9. insert chip into ECU
10. test car, and post results!
