    Default strange white stuff....

my car is starting to misfire again,
last time i tracked it down to dirt points on the inside off the dissy cap, it was liek a hard white powder etched onto the points and when i sanded it off it ran fine, so i chuckd the spare dissy on and it has happned to it now,
    what would be causing this?
my old man says it could be taht the roter is to close and not giving ample room to arc proberly causing it to crust over...
^ is that sounding right or any1 know the cause of it

and when CAS are stuffd do they give off a strong orange colourd powder or is it white?

Try replacing the rotor arm and distributor cap. They won't be very expensive. It could be that they are worn and the gap between them is too big.

No harm in replacing them anyway.

The gap gets bigger as the metal arcs and this happens to the points in the cap and the rotor tip too, get new 1's..
I was confused now I'm just not so sure!!

Never bought things like that out here, only in the UK, but i'd expect to pay $15 to $20 for the rotor arm and around $30 sounds right for the cap. Just estimates though. I'm going down to Autobarn tomorrow, so i'll get firm prices if you like while i'm there.

the CAS doesn't put off any powder. its actually the dizzy bearing that puts off the orange powder. it builds up in the dizzy though and stuffs the CAS. Plenty of people replace the CAS thinking its the cause of the powder and then the new one dies cos the bearing is stuffed too.

OK, from Autobarn the cap is $29 and the rotor arm is just over $14 so not too bad. They keep them in stock as well.
