I'm looking for the last serial number of the VL's made! Can anyone help?
Ring Holden?
Do they give that info out?

I don't see, why they wouldn't.
OK on that - ya just never know until ya try!
Why do you want it :S
Trying to find the first serial number for the VN - but they made VL's at the same time as VN's for a while. So the numbers are a bit mixed up.
Sorry but they DID NOT make VL's and VN's at the same time..Originally Posted by 88GreenVN
They stopped the VL and cleared the lines of them and changed set up's , machines , jigs ect then VN's where put through.. I was there..
Don't know about the numbers being mixed up.![]()

Ok I found a VL body number of L292,805. Is this NOT part of the serial numbering for the holden. The car was made in June 1988. I have a pic of it.
The VN started around this number....
The VL didn't have a VIN number?
Bugger. Whats the number I found then? L292,805. What does it relate to on the VL? Puzzled now. The number is so close to the start of the VN serial numbers. Just 1 of those things I suppose!
I'd get one of the VL guys that had a car in 88 to post up a VIN for you, we do have a VIN number so I'm not quite sure whats going on there.
If none of the vl guys can help out I'll find one later.. Even on ebay you may find a VIN listed.
From what I remember weeks 4 a model change, but that depends on if the new model is a all new car or an update say vn to vp the more changes the longer time..Originally Posted by ucwepn

Is it safe to say the VN was the first with a VIN number and VL's had a body number only? my vin number. 6h8vnk35hkl306610 built 6/10/1988.
Ok I'd say even though VIN numbers started with the VN it was law to have it on all Aust cars from the 1/1/89 and as the VN was only 4 mths away from that start date it was easier to start then 4 the 1st VN onwards..Originally Posted by 88GreenVN
From ur VN VIN number there I can tell u a little info, all cars made here will start with a 6, h8 is Holden Motor Co, VN it's a VN, K is Commodore, L is which plant made it and the 306610 is the serial number..![]()
