Default VL rear disc conversion info needed

I'm considering converting my VL to a disc brake rear end, going from a VK calais to drum rear VL you notice just how crap the drakes are.

Anyone done this? know whats required?

1: do I need a different master cylinder?
2: can I use my drum diff an just change the brakes? or is it easier to find a disc diff an put it in?
3: are the drum & disc diff yolks the same?

any other extra info you might have would be much appretiated

    thanks

keep the rear end. just need hand brake cable, hubs, discs, calipers, backing plates, brake hoses, and bearings (i think). don't necessarily need bigger master cylinder but it would help.

i did the convert on my beast but i had a complete VL calais rear disc diff here so we just needed the new handbrake cable and then just bolted it all up and in. DIDNT change the master cyl, no brake rubbing at all and have since put new pads in and still no rubbing. If u can get the complete Disc diff it would prolly be easier but its up to u mate

vn discs do bolt on with a disc brake seal kit and straightening out of bake lines and adjustment of hand brake cable. been done many times before by vl owners and me.

the vn rear end may be a little wider (?). no problem if it is, just watch your rim offset.

I have no idea if other brakets are needed too.
    Is the backing plate identical?????

    Is the wheelbearings different???

Why dont brake shops do this/answer these questions???

    Who killed Kenny ?!

If you find these out, please let me know too, after going from a VN Calais, to a VL drum bum, you do notice a big difference.

Need Info on upgrading the front and rear brakes, I have a complete 95 VS COMMODORE live rear axle.

I'm converting the engine into a VL Commodore and need to know if i can use my brakes from the VS to upgrade the VL brakes or do i need to buy a VL turbo brake package??
and if so what is needed for the upgrade and how much?

hey abscent - Make live easy, get a complete VL Calais or Berlina rear disc brake diff/axle assesmbly (I got mine from a place that specialise in Toowoomba). Unbolt the old drums, bolt in the new discs. (4 bolts from memory). Be smart, and upgrade the booster and master too - don't skimp on brakes as they will save you one day!
Apparently here in QLD you will need a Mod plate for this too - but if no one knows then.....

neo as long as you realise the original post was put up here nearly 3 years ago. I'd say he has it sorted by now.

you get the mod plate from an engineer. mine cost somewhere just under $200 for the VT front brakes, VN 5.0 eng and T700 conversion.
