i've made a fake wall screwed to the back or the rear seat to mount the amps too and hide the wiring behind. the parcel shelf is MDF with black sub box carpet, 2 x 6 1/2" in the original holes and 2 x 6x9s in thew centre on the plastic mounts with holes cut in the MDF to clear the magnets. it pumps that much my stacker is useless from the bass the 6x9s put out cos they are mounted so firmly. the parcel shelf is secures at the front by the seat and at the rear by child capsule bolts in the original corner holes, so its practical as well cos i have 2 kids. i'm about to put 2 lots of splits in the fronts doors and get rid of my 4" in the dash. once i don't have to carry a stroller in the boot i will box it and put either 2 kenwood 12" subs or 2 clarion 15"s with the spare tyre under a fake floor if it will fit and a sub on each side of the boot.
hey bangers that sounds pretty good well atm i got the car in sanddown mode so i will be doin the boot install soon i bought a stereo and all that just before i started so its not to bad atm all i got is 4" pioneer in the dash 6 1/2 sony explode's in the parcel (which is completely rooted im gonna make a mdf replacement) and a neat little kenwood stereo retails for $300 mp3/ipod compatible
im hoping to do something similar to the pic below with 2 12" kenwood or alpine subs , and make the boot in a box shape,a wall in front of the spare to keep it hidden (left side ) and with the amp on the right side wall the subs behind the seat and the floor of the boot in polished checkerplate the pic is dodgy i just did it on paint but i am hopeing to do a lot more as soon as the boot is painted it should look really good ... and cause its compatible with ipod im gonna make a custom thing coming out of the ash tray to hold and charge the ipod so i have like 4000 songs on handno cd's hehe lol
anyway tell me wat u think of my idea and people keep the posts coming ..pics would be good also![]()
thanks dan

yeah the kenwood is KDC-MP4033. with remote. was $329 now $239 at autobarn. i must advise you though that the cable to run the iPod is $200. there is a good one KDC-MP5033U for $429 that has a cable that you feed through to your glovebox or centre console that you put a USB memory stick into. you even get a 256mb stick free with the stereo. looks better than the 4033 and comes with remote too. plus its stacker and iPod capable too. and has a flip down face.
yeah i cant memba the model off the top of my head ... i paid $260 for the sony xplode speakers and the head unit works out to be about $219 i payed at wow and the dude said the cable is $150 which is ok ...also came with a remote and the cable plugs into the stacker port i think should still be a sweet little setup and yeah fold down face with the cd behind the face looks awsome
dan ps it pumps lol![]()

if its the model i'm thinking of then it will look sweet in the VL dash. if you are going to get the cable then do it before you install the HU otherwise you'll have to pull it back out again to plug the cable in.
yeah its already in haha :P we put it in the day we bought it like just under a week ago but its all good we go key's to remove it anyway should be easy enough i reckon ipod over cd's is still a better option wat u reckon of my boot idea it should be reletivly easy to do the .... checkerplate will be costly but will do the trick and yeah well it will all happen after the car is painted and the boot is all sorted ....
can u post pics of yorus sometime ?
thanks dan

1st Step: the boot before i started, just got my new marine carpet down
http://f10.putfile.com/main/7/20507091747.jpg
2nd Step: this is the mdf wood when i cut it out, i used a piece of cardboard to get the shape of the wheelarch, and then traced it onto the mdf. i used a jigsaw to cut it out and the mdf is 16mm if i recall correct.
http://f10.putfile.com/main/7/20507102265.jpg
3rd Step: i then glued some of the marine carpet on to the mdf with carpet glue, it worked fine and is on firm, when i bought the carpet i made sure i had extra for the side wall.
it was then i also desided to make the wiring neat and disapear into the carpet, so i drilled holes though as u can see for the cables
http://f10.putfile.com/main/7/20507124567.jpg
4th Step: when the carpet had dryed i trimed the excess carpet off to the shape of the wood
http://f10.putfile.com/main/7/20507160644.jpg
check if it looks alright and if the carpet is trimed enough when mounted in.
http://f10.putfile.com/main/7/20507184872.jpg
5th Step: mount the amp and make sure it lines up with the holes drilled before for the cables.
http://f10.putfile.com/main/7/20507213931.jpg
6th Step: mount it into place and run the cables for the amp thought the holes,
if you have made it well and exact you wont need to screw it down or anything as it will hold in by the lip in the 1/4 panel and the light bulb holder in the tail light section, but screwing it down might b smart to stop thieves
http://f10.putfile.com/main/7/20507233175.jpg
and now with my sub in its complete![]()

dont think its working might have to copy and past the link till i get it working

I have a JVC mp3 HU (kd g326), Clarion 260w 3 way 6x9's up back (running from jenson 2 ch amp), pioneer 2way 4" in the dash,
Just picked up a new amp today Kenwood KAC-6203 with 300w rms for my sub that I get tomorrow, Kicker comp VR.
Sub and amp going in tomorrow arvo so will post pics when done.
I also have a custom parcel shelf made of MDF with MDF spacers for the 6x9's covered in white vynil with foam padding under the vynil.
2nd pic is my old boot setup with old sub and amp.
Shelf pic with crappy old vdo 2 ways

Here's my parcel shelf and sub...the box is mounted over the fuel tank in which the sub only just fits...just a box to fit on the tank and sub in with a bigger face (front of box) just to hold the box up there (boot normally completely carpeted). Theres a gap behind the face in the lip of the tank to fit my jumper leads behind, and a weapon of choiceCan also see the expandy foam in the boot lid to reduce vibrations

i tracked 90% of my boot rattle to the rear bar, i removed it and found out taht the brakets that hold the bar on have a rubber gromit between them, but after time it wears out and gits stiff and just sends vibration though,
so i used double sided tape to fix it and give it pading and now the rattle is mostly gone, bsides the garnish and lights
ive got a couple of pics on my computa off the bar of and what i mean,
if u want the pics just say and ill post them up later to give u a clear idea on what i mean.

Hi guys below are a few links to pics of my boot install and parcel shelf, both of which I did myself using black carpet from bunnings at $18m and a sheet of MDF also from bunnings. It looks a million times better than what it did before I carpeted it.

very nice josh. you did a tidy job.![]()
there u go, as you can see i placed two layers of double sided tape on it but u can use more if u want, it stoped most of my rattles

How'd you do that...i put padding across it so when it clips in the foam hold the lid firm.Originally Posted by ucwepn

well i just made another fake wall on the right side of the boot. if i decide to keep my stacker i'll move it to there instead of hanging behind the boot light. other wise i'll mount an xbox there or something. not sure yet. i was going to mount an amp there but the fusion amps are to long to fit. so i'll be puting that on the back wall i've mounted behind the rear seat and puting another fusion amp there next to it to run the subs when i get them. i'll also be puting neons on the wall next to the amps hooked to the boot light with a separate switch so i can switch between the neons and the boot light coming on when i open the bootlid. it may be a while until its finished and photos are up as i'm doing a few projects at once, the sound system, interior, paint job and engine plus the car is the family car so i can only do bits and pieces when i have the time and money.
well i've mounted the amp, carpeted the bit on the right side, and put in neons above and below the amp. i haven't wired the amp yet as i'm waiting to buy a new HU that has a USB port, 2 amp outs and a sub out out, sub and amp control, and is dual zone so i can put a DVD stacker in. will post pics when i'm done.
