Elec aerial wont stay up (need viagra?)

Having very basic electrical knowledge I cant get my head around how the wiring to my elec aerial works.
I have just purchased an aftermarket elec aerial. It has two earths, a perm power and switched power.
When I plug it all in to the original aerial wiring on my calais it is on a perm down cycle. It will go up when you hit the switch, but as soon as I let go it motors back down again.
HAve I got a bung aftermarket aerial, is my car wiring doing something funny, Or am I overlooking something basic.
I have wiring diagrams, but that hasnt helped me sort the prob out,
any Ideas or help greatly appreciated.

sorry people should have lokked 1st- found similar posts with possible answers, was going to delete this thread but dont think i can. sounds like it might be the module, Ill have to try and source one
