    Default CAI in VL Commodore

Can you install any Cold Air Intake Kits on the VL commodore, such as taking the VS Supercharger Chute and place it on the VL?
Or what other options do I have, btw I have opted not for the POD as for the noise it makes.

    Thanks

I don't think it'd be doable. They're trouble enough on a VN/VP. I put one on my VP but not without it's hassles.

I might pull mine off my car and test fit it to my gf's VL and see how it goes.

no i doubt it will work using anything from a later model. basically you have these options:

    1. Pod - which you have said you don't want so thats a no

    2. cutting a big dirty 100mm circular hole out of the body under the airbox and running some pvc out to behind the front bar. the hole is illegal and defectable but many people still do it. apparently it works well but i don't reckon its worth it

    3. this is what i have done: first off a K&N panel filter replacing the standard paper one, then i threw the plastic duct away and cut the hole in the front of the airbox to roughly twice the size. then i made a new wider duct out of sheetmetal and attached that to the airbox. now air is drawn into the airbox from the corner right up behind the headlight. i noticed the difference over standard but haven't compared it to the hole in the body method

There should already be a hole under the airbox that has a plate spot welded over it. I just knocked the plate out with a hammer and screwdriver then cut a hole in the airbox to line up with the hole below then used 90mm plastic pipe which finished behind the front bumper. You can buy the pipe and bends to suit from any hardware place.

hmmm.... Getting there with options.... If anyone else out there have some more or different options that would be great. Opinions are welcomed as to which way you would go about trying to get more air intake. Or is a POD still the best option.

did you notice much difference with just that existing hole? its only about 40mm in diameter isn't it?

and pods aren't much good because of the temp of the engine bay air so i don't think there is much point doing that. UNLESS you put a CAI to the pod (piping through the body to it) or box it and seal against the bonnet to keep hot air out

All I've taken out the snorkle, and made a larger hole in the Air Filter box. Had the Air Filter base cut larger to accomodate a Genuine Holden Cold Air Intake Duct, The air seems to be blown in by the fan from the Radiator. I have noticed a difference in power, acceleration and also smoothness in gears changing. Will look into cutting a hole on the bottom of the box and through the car body, possibly run a pipe to the front of the bumper.

well the CAI of the vs wouldnt work the best as the vls nose cone covers the bonnets intake line causing the air flow to be disturbed,

but the pvc piping under the box works wonders ive got it on mine as well as a k&n panel,if i place my car in nutral while at 80+ going down hill the car stalls as to much air is getting ramed in causing it to choke on air, and i have also made the box bottom part fully open all the way,
it seams more resopnsive when ive got the CAI open but when its winter i place a cap over the entrance and its a tad bit slugish

Make up a box for a pod, then you won't really hear the noise as much.

Making a box around the pod, wouldn't that restrict the air getting into the engine?

That CAI on CT is mine. It's been there for about 6 years now and has never been a problem. I've been through a foot of water with it too and had no dramas at all.
